Prehistoric party in Big Water
Everyone is invited to Big Water to celebrate the annual Big Water Dinosaur Festival October 16-18. The festival is celebrating the many past and ongoing dinosaur fossil discoveries in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and other areas surrounding Big Water.
Friday, October 16
•Opening event – Paleontology Presentation 7 to 8 p.m. (AZ time) at the Glen Canyon Dam, Carl Hayden Visitor Center.
Saturday, October 17:
•Arts, Crafts and Food Vendor Fair at the Big Water Town Hall and surrounding streets (60 N. Aaron Burr)?9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (AZ time).
•Planned activities: Karaoke singing contest for ages 8-12, 13-18, and 19 and older. Pre-registration required.
•Free BLM Dinosaur themed activities, other dinosaur games, activities and crafts (small fee required)
•“Funtime Inflatables” for kids. •Dinosaur coloring contest for ages six and under (colored while at the festival and entered in the contest)
•Dinosaur drawing contest for ages seven and up (drawn while at the festival and entered in the contest.)
Sunday, October 18
•Big Water Dinosaur Festival Paleontology Tours from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.- 7 p.m. (Utah time). Tours begin and end at the Big Water Visitor Center. Tours can be booked by calling 435-675-3200.
Big Water, Utah is located on US Hwy 89, 60 miles east of Kanab and 20 miles west of Page and Lake Powell.
The Dinosaur Festival will be surrounding the Big Water Town Hall and Fire Station at 60 Aaron Burr, just off Hwy 89.
