No drizzle, rain, nor torrential downpour could dampen the Celebration of Life Benefit for the family of Tadd Aston on Saturday, May 23.

The entire community came out to celebrate life and raise money for Tadd Aston, a young, hard-working, loving son, father and husband battling cancer.

The Lion’s Club of Kanab cooked to feed hungry attendees, while talented singers and dancers entertained them. The silent auction displayed generous donations from local artists, quilters and more.

The 501st Legion traveled from St. George and Flagstaff to help with the event. These “bad guys doing good” drew in the crowds giving people the unique opportunity to meet Star Wars characters. The carnival, bounce house, popcorn and snow cones kept the kids happy, too.

The event was kicked off by the Red Rock Dance Academy led by Shelly Stewart. The dancers got the party started with tw0 dance numbers.

Junior Small Town Idol stars Bailie Lathim, Andrea Fisher, Haley Reidhead, Mickey Romano and Brooke Barber, kept the party going with their singing abilities, showing everyone just how talented the young people of this community are.

Aileen Walden and Mr. Anonymous as well as Small Town Idol stars Becky Greenwood, Jami Black, Adreanna Pederson and Carey Belcher, belted out sweet songs to help draw in the crowds throughout the day.

Midday the showers began pouring down, but it didn’t keep the community from coming out to support this worthy cause. More than $4000 was raised by the event.

Even in our small community, we can come together to help one another. It is in knowing people are good!

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible.
