Inviting women of all ages and faiths: join the Women’s Forum in Kanab for the entertaining and inspiring keynote address given by a woman who is a combat medic in the U.S. Army, marathon runner, Miss Utah 2007, author, ER nurse, wife, mother ... and a blonde; none other than Jill Shepherd! Be entertained as you hear her story and learn that no matter where you are, you should always just be you ... so “Take Yourself With You!”

For eight years, Shepherd served in the U.S. military as a combat medic in the Utah National Guard, while earning her degree in Nursing at Southern Utah University.

In January 2004, she was deployed to Afghanistan, returning home in April 2005. She earned five medals for her outstanding service, and was the first female finisher of the inaugural Afghanistan Marathon. She has completed a total of 18 marathons, together with earning the highest fitness award during Army Basic Training.

In 2006, she placed third in the Cinco De Mayo Sailboat Regatta in Mexico. In 2007, Shepherd was chosen one of four women for the “Women of Strength” featured in Muscle and Fitness Hers magazine.

Possibly one of the most unusual adventures for Shepherd though, has been her unexpected experience in becoming Miss Utah 2007, which took her to the national competition in the Miss America Pageant in January 2008, ending as a finalist and winning “America’s Choice” for Miss America.

Shepherd is happily married to Kerry Shepherd. They are enjoying beginning their own little family. They have three young children who they have lots of fun with. Between being a proud mom and housewife, she continues to try to bring smiles to children’s faces, one scraped knee at a time, in the Emergency Department at Primary Children’s Hospital.

Mark your calendars and don’t miss this opportunity! Shepherd is featured on Saturday, March 7, as part of the Women’s Forum in Kanab. For more information, visit our website:
