The Symphony of the Canyon’s “Home for Christmas Festival” is coming up fast ... like this weekend! The anual fundraiser gets underway this Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. for the dinner and concert at the Kanab Middle School commons. Tickets are available at Zion Pharmacy for $35 per person.

Then on Saturday morning, come to the Vendor’s Market to get your Christmas shopping started, or finished, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the KMS gym.

We know the businesses in Kanab get asked over and over again to donate to everything that goes on in the community, but this one is of great importance. We are asking for your most generous contributions for this Christmas Festival.

The symphony is a volunteer organization that benefits the entire community. Each member of the symphony donates their time and talents for all of us to enjoy. Most people are not aware that the music the symphony plays has to be rented or purchased, and it is costly. It also costs money to have instruments in tip-top condition. The concerts the symphony performs for our enjoyment take long and tedious hours of preparation. This is one reason we all need to pitch in and make a contribution.

The symphony also helps with kids who want to play instruments or belong to the symphony. They help with getting the equipment needed to accomplish this task for our children with an interest in music. What a great thing for our kids to be able to play in a symphony while still in high school.

Our community is lucky to have the Symphony of the Canyons, so please help with this fundraiser.

Here is what we would like if possible:

We would like you to create a basket of some sort, with the products you are willing to donate, or decorate a small tree. If you have products that are being donated, make them look nice, and put your business name on a card so we know which business is donating the basket.

Suggestions:

•Motels could donate one free room for a night, or anything you have that might be appropriate to raffle off.

•Gas stations could donate a gift certificate for gas.

•Places to eat could also do gift certificates for dinner for two.

•Places who service cars could do a free oil change, or some other service.

•Grocery stores and other places could make a basket or gift certificate.

These are just suggestions. We just need your help to keep the symphony playing their beautiful music for all of us to enjoy.

If you have questions, please contact Harriett Perkins at 435-689-1297 or Jackie Judson at 435-899-8348.

We will need your donations brought to the Kanab Middle School on Friday, December 5, by 2 p.m, or give Harriett a call and she will come to your business and pick it up. With the help of everyone in the community, we can make this the best Christmas Festival for the Symphony of the Canyons ever.
