Recently, the Kanab Beautification Board and Tree Committee joined forces with the Kane County Volunteer Center and established the “Kanab is Beautiful” project. The project is multi-faceted and includes public site cleanup, weeding, pruning, litter pickup, educational events regarding tree planting and maintenance and high desert landscaping techniques.

Here are a few community wide activities offered for all this coming week.

•April 19 is Earth Day at the Kane County Visitor Information Center – noon-6 p.m. The U.S. Forest Service has provided Ponderosa Pine seedlings for community planting.

•April 23 is Arbor Day – Come to the Terrace from 1-2:30 p.m. and assist with tree planting and listen to tree planting and maintenance tips from Dannon Hulett.

•April 25 – 9 a.m. – the Sons of the Utah Pioneers will be sprucing up Levi Stewart Park. Volunteers are welcome.

•April 27 – 9 a.m. – Meet at the old middle school parking lot to participate in a citywide cleanup. Remember to bring water and gloves.

During the week of April 22, the city will pick up large items for disposal. Join with us in “neighbor helping neighbor” by assisting those who may need help moving large items to the curb.
