Kanab Fire Department seeks new volunteers
The Kanab City Fire Department is accepting applications for volunteer firefighters. If you ever thought about joining, now is the right time. Kanab’s volunteer firefighters meet new friends, develop important new skills, and make a positive difference in the community.
The department responds to all types of incidents, including structure fires, vehicle extrications, hazmat incidents, wildland fires, and also has an active public education and safety program. It takes a wide variety of people and skills to accomplish such a broad mission, and people completely new to emergency services, as well as experienced firefighters and former members, are encouraged to apply.
The department provides continual training, quality equipment and vehicles for use during incidents, and a modest but meaningful stipend for volunteer members. The job isn’t easy; it requires time, commitment, and physical fitness. But it can be fun and always rewarding.
If interested, we’d like to hear from you. For more information, call Kanab City Fire Department Chief Joe Decker at (435) 644-2718.
