Kanab High School students attend Governor's State of the State Address
Kanab High School students attended Governor Gary Herbert’s State of the State Address at the Utah Capitol on January 30, at the start of the 2013 Legislative Session. The students were able to meet with elected officials, including Governor Herbert, Lt. Governor Greg Bell, Senator Ralph Okerlund, Senator Evan Vickers, and Representative Mike Noel.
In addition to meeting with elected officials and touring the State Capitol, the students visited the set of the KUTV Channel 2 News station.
While at Channel 2 News, the group met Debbie Worthen, Ron Bird and Mary Nichols. The students even made a cameo appearance during the weather portion of the newscast on the morning of January 31.
“The trip was fun and educational,” said Kanab High School Principal Doug Jacobs. “We especially want to thank Mike Noel and Kelly Stowell for helping arrange the trip. The students were outstanding representatives of our school and community.”
