The 3rd Annual “Little Hollywood Shootout” quick turnaround film challenge is being held March 13-April 3, 2013. The “shootout” is a guerrilla filming competition providing aspiring filmmakers of all ages the chance to make a film in Utah’s “Little Hollywood,” home to landmark scenery where epic movies like “The Outlaw Josey Wales” and “Planet of the Apes” were filmed. The film competition starts at high noon on March 13. Requirements and assignments will be revealed at the beginning of the challenge.

The 2013 “shootout” features two competitive divisions:

•Freestyle Open: The “Freestyle Open” Division is intended for novice and beginning filmmakers of all ages looking to try their hand at the craft.

•Targeted Promotion: The “Targeted Promotion” Division is designed for competitors who have experience with filmmaking.

Participants must be present on March 13 to enter the contest and most of the filming will be required to take place in Kane County at revealed locations. Editing and post-production can take place at participant’s desired location. Film submission deadlines are due on April 3, and can be submitted either in person or online.

There will be a community screening in Kanab of all the submitted films and an awards ceremony on April 13, where winners in all categories will be announced. Community members and participants are strongly encouraged to attend.

Registration for the “Targeted Promotional” Division is $30, the “Freestyle Open” Division is $15. Rules, regulations, registration and answers to other questions can be found online at www.littlehollywoodshootout.org or by calling CEBA 435-899-0443.
