The Kane County Fair is but a happy memory. We would like to take some time to recall what a great week and a half everyone had. To start, there were amazing exhibits from all over the county. We would like to recognize some of the trophy winners:

The highest entry winners were Larry Baer in the senior category with 83 entries and in the junior category Robert Beardall with 45.

If you didn’t get to come and check out the exhibits, fruits, and crops, you missed out on some amazing talent and beauty. There were many other fabulous paintings, photographs, leather working, sculpting, needlework, quilts, collections, baked goods and other fine entries. Great job and thank you to those participating.

There was always something going on at the fair with great events such as the Parade, Horse Show, Skeet Shoot, Golf Tournament, Dance and Fireworks.

The 5K Night Race is quickly becoming one of the most popular events at the fair. There were prizes for all age and categories, and many other fun awards, like Kesley and Kristy Brinkerhoff who took home the free T-shirt for the “brightest glow.”

The Dutch Oven Cookoff is another event that is consistently gaining favor at the fair. This year’s champion was Kingsley Nelson.

The fair had two new events this year. The Fair Board would like to thank the entertainers from the National Cowboy Rodeo for their night of entertainment. We hope to see you again next year.

The second event was a ping-pong drop. If you happened to be awake around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, you were in for a treat! The flying cars flew over the rodeo grounds and dropped ping-pong balls. There were two $100 balls. The lucky winners were Garrett Spencer and Dustin Cox.

The rodeo is the biggest attraction of the fair. Cars stop along the road and people from all over the world take a moment to enjoy the Junior Rodeo. Rodeo lovers were not disappointed this year. The Lions Club put on a great rodeo, with lots of mutton busting, chicken chasing, roping and riding. We give a big thank you to the Long Valley Lion’s Club for their hard work making our fair bigger and better.

You can look far and wide, but you will never find a better, well run Fair Livestock Show than in Kane County. The livestock committee would like to thank the following buyers and supporters of the fair. We couldn’t do it without your support and help. Thank you.
