The Kanab Cowboys split two games last week, losing to Parowan on Wednesday, before defeating Millard on Friday.

The Cowgirls played the same two schools, and beat them both.

The Cowboys led Parowan 10-8 after one quarter of action, but a poor second frame saw them get outscored by the Rams by eight points, 20-12, as the visitors took a 28-22 lead at the break.

The offense picked up in the third period for both teams, as they each scored 19 points.

Kanab chipped one point off the six point deficit in the final frame of action, but the Cowboys fell five points short, losing 61-56.

Brandon Jenson led the Cowboy offense with 22 points. Mark Bate pulled down 10 boards and scored seven points. Tyler Gover netted eight points and had four boards, while Matt Ramsay contributed six points and six caroms.

Kanab defeated a tall Millard team on Friday 68-60. The Cowboys used a huge first quarter to burst ahead of the Eagles, 21-9. They outscored Millard by two, 19-17, in the second frame, to take a commanding 40-26 lead at the half.

Millard wasn’t about to lay down, as they closed the gap to 51-42 after three quarters of action. The Cowboys held on for the eight point victory, 68-60.

Brandon Jenson was red-hot from behind the three-point line, as he canned six treys, on his way to a game-high 24 points. Mark Bate tallied 18 points and hauled in 14 rebounds, while Conor Corry yanked down 16 boards and dished out nine assists. Taylor Glover also had a good game, netting 11 points.

This week, the Cowboys only have one game, on Wednesday at home against Enterprise.

The Kanab Cowgirls blew out both teams they played, hammering Parowan 65-34 on Tuesday, then beating up Millard 60-33 on Thursday.

Kanab broke open a close game after one, outscoring the Lady Rams 19-10 in the second quarter, to take a 26-16 lead at the break. The Cowgirls put them away in the third stanza, blitzing the home team 27-4, to take a huge 53-20 advantage with one period to play. Parowan scored two more than Kanab in the final frame, but still lost by 31 points.

Kaytee Glover played a great, all-around game to pace the Cowgirl attack. Glover scored 20 points, pulled down six rebounds, and handed off six assists. Whitney Houston also came up big, netting 17 points, snagging five boards, and dishing off six assists. Shaylee McDonald tallied 11 points and had four caroms.

Kanab outscored Millard in every quarter, as they pulled away to a 27 point victory. The Cowgirls led 13-6 after one, and 24-13 at the half. They were five better than Millard in the third, outscoring them 16-11, before dominating the final frame, 20-9, to win going away, 60-33.

Calli Jackson recorded a double-double, with 13 points and 14 rebounds, to lead the Cowgirl attack. Shaylee McDonald was one rebound away, scoring 12 points, and snagging nine off the glass. Kaytee Glover was steady once again, contributing 11 points, as well as five rebounds, five assists and five steals.

This week, the Cowgirls face an always-tough Enterprise team on the road on Tuesday.
